Easkey Wildflower & Herb Garden and Nature Trail

The funding that was successfully received from the Dept of Rural and Community Development Town and Village Renewal Scheme 2017 will be utilised for the development of a culinary & medicinal herb and wildflower garden. We will be producing our own wildflower and herb seed for sale, as well as fresh and dried herbs. To do this work we need to buy drying equipment, storage, polytunnels, packaging, sealing machine for seeds, compost and all the necessary tools and equipment.
There will also be limited trail surface enhancements and map board information on the existing Laundry Walk to transform it into a nature trail that can be enjoyed by our entire community.

Easkey River Path Works

(work finished at the toilet block, complete with new fencing, paving and bench)

(work being carried out on the new paving at the seafront toilet block)

We are delighted to announce that work has commenced on Easkey River Path and walkway. The work will hopefully be completed by the end of September and will be a fantastic upgrade to what many consider the highlight of Easkey Village. We would also like to express our gratitude to Clár for the funding and also to Sligo County Council for carrying out the works.

Congressman Brendan Boyle's visit

We were delighted to welcome Congressman Brendan Boyle, his brother State Speaker of the House Kevin Boyle, and their father Frances Boyle to Easkey. Brendan and Kevin have a strong Easkey connection on their mother Eileen's side. Their maternal great-grandmother and both grandparents were from Cooga. We were proud to have been able to have the Congressman plant a tree in the Peace Park by the river.

Fr. Kevin's Retirement & Welcoming Fr. Kieran Holmes

We would like to with Fr. Kevin a happy and healthy retirement. Fr Kevin was the Parish Priest here in Easkey for 22 years.

We would also like to give a warm welcome to Fr. Kieran Holmes who is our new Parish Priest. We hope he will be with us for many years.
